One of the UK’s largest regional airlines has confirmed the return of one of its summer routes in and out of Cornwall.

Loganair is now flying again between Newquay and Newcastle.

Twice weekly flights, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, have now resumed at Cornwall Airport Newquay and will operate throughout the summer season until the end of October this year.

With a flying time of around 80 minutes, it is the only direct flight between the two destinations.

Operated by an Embraer 145 aircraft, the route has flight times of 2.10pm on Wednesdays and 5pm on Saturdays out of Newcastle, while in the other direction the times are 4.05pm on Wednesdays and 6.55pm on Saturdays from Newquay.

Leon McQuaid, director of aviation at Newcastle Airport, said: "The route between Newcastle and Newquay has always been popular. It serves the northeast travelling public who are looking for a sunshine break within the UK, and equally passengers from Cornwall and the surrounding areas who are looking to visit the northeast region for a scenic city break.

“The twice-weekly flight allows for flexible stay lengths and Loganair's generous baggage allowance ensures passengers can take everything they need for their trip without any extra expense."
